The first two chapters of Luke focus on events before and after the birth of Jesus Christ. I really liked reading in chapter 1 about the begginings of John the baptist. His father Zacharias by the lineage of Levi had the Aaronic Priesthood. Because he had it he was able to pass it on to John the Baptist. This is an important principle that teaches us that Fathers who have the priesthood are able to transfer their priesthood to their children at the right time and age.
I also like how the spirit of the Holy Ghost is so strong that even a baby can be able to feel it. In verse 41, "And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filed with the Holy Ghost." How neat is it to know that even in the womb we are able to discern of things that are good. We are so close to the pre-mortal life that that bond between us and the spirit is still there. My goal for this week is to be able to listen to the promtings of the spirit like the baby in the womb of Elisabeth.
